About Us
Who are we? Well, the answer to that question would be a list of approximately 50 people, and we would have to update that list on a regular basis. Our movement is currently made up of mostly 10th grade students that attend Central York High School, but, like we said before, we are expanding by the day. By now, you're probably curious as to what exactly this 'movement' we keep referring to is. The problem itself can be better explained in the tab labeled "The Problem"(creative, we know), but in short, we are trying to eradicate the use of child labor in chocolate plantations. Our teacher has taught us a new definition of success. We take small steps, and always aim high, and either way we get results better than we would've originally imagined. Our slogan is “Why Doesn't Somebody Do Something About That” because we feel that with all the negative situations going on in our world, someone should stand up and do something to stop the conflicts occurring. Our mission is to spread awareness and eliminate the use of child labor and slavery connected to the growing and harvesting of cocoa beans in Africa. We will accomplish this by getting the attention of large corporations and spreading the word on social media. Our list of accomplishments so far includes: contacting the Press Secretary under Governor Wolf about what we are trying to accomplish, emailing the Hershey Company to see what they say about this situation, and much more.
